Soarness is defeated by injesting large amounts of Vitamin C. It helps to break down the lactic acid on the muscles. The energy is another thing. I honestly don't understand this since after a workout, running or weight lifting, I feel a lot more awake. How long are you running, how long Have you been running, what time of the day. I have found that if I run first thing in the morning, before eating, I feel great all day. I find that if I run at night and eat I sleep crappy. If I do it in the middle of the day, I can still sleep, but I have to run till I think I'm going to fall over.
I think you should start by running a mile, not very fast, first thing in the morning, before breakfast. What this should do is jump your metabolism and make you hungry, then eat carbs throughout the day. Carbs are the key, they are easily broken down energy. So eat carbs after a workout, not a gallon but like a peanut butter sandwich or a bowl of Special K is great. Protien is the other key.
You need a decent amount of protien to build muscle. Which brings me to the 3rd thing. Your gonna have to hit the weight room. I'm not talking massive weight gains just some weight training. Light weight, 5 sets of 10 with a warm up set and a cool down set. Rest 1 minute between sets and do them as fast a possible. This will help your muscles gain strength, the other half of keeping out soarness. If ya need anymore nutritional or physical advice just hit me up. |

During aerobic or cardio workouts, you're metabolism will increase and thus your core systems will work harder...hence the awake feeling
Most doctors recommend not running before bed time because it can keep you awake for those reasons.
I should help to clarify by saying her problems with soreness are due to a serious lack of sleep and possible fibrous tears. (we're currently looking into that problem) We tried the vitamin intake and it didn't help much.
I have her started on running a half mile at a decent pace and am building her up. Other than missing the last couple weeks due to schedule conflict...I must say she is doing quite well. |
